“Chance favors only the prepared mind.”
– Louis Pasteur

Shawna Perau was born and raised in Fulton, New York. Growing up, she enjoyed skiing and ice skating in the snowy New York winters. Shawna’s high school and college summers were spent working for her family’s small business alongside her parents and brother. Shawna graduated from Florida Gulf Coast University in 2016 cum laude with a B.S. degree in Legal Studies and minors in Political Science and Philosophy. While pursuing her undergraduate degree, Shawna helped represent survivors of domestic violence while interning for a pro bono lawyer at the Abuse Counseling and Treatment Center of Fort Myers.

After college, Shawna enrolled in law school as a full-time student at Florida Coastal School of Law in Jacksonville, Florida where she graduated in the top 5% of her class with high honors, magna cum laude. While in law school, Shawna was a teaching assistant for Tort Law and also held an executive position as a member of the Trial Team. Shawna continued to broaden her legal skills while a student as she interned at Spohrer Dodd where she gained experience in civil litigation including premises liability, motor vehicle accidents, and medical malpractice. Additionally, she interned in the legal department of Regency Centers where she gained experience with commercial leases and landlord-tenant disputes. She also interned at The Hinson Law Firm and the Public Defender’s Office in the 20th Circuit while in law school.

Shawna currently lives near West Palm Beach and enjoys spending time with her family and going to the beach in her spare time.
